The Cebu Institute of Technology – University began the new academic year with a fresh face and multiversal stakes, as the Technologian community donned their own masks in this year’s Spiderverse-themed Welcome Week held last August 12 to August 15, 2026.
For four days, Teknoys engaged with various activities amid the Welcome Week festivities.
Not perfect, but present
The 42nd Supreme Student Government (SSG) President, Chelcy Kate Kwong, presented the accomplishments of her administration during the last 57 days in office during the State of the Student Government Address (SOSGA) at the Jurani Hall on August 12.
Kwong led the strengthening of the office in terms of positions and legislative duties. As of her speech, there are 36 Legislators, 67 Commissioners, and 13 Justices in the SSG. The Legislative Department has also signed 15 Resolutions and one House Bill.
When asked about the other empty positions in the Executive Department, she emphasized the rigors of the selection process. Regardless of the imperfections, she reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to hearing the concerns of the student body, while also delivering results.
“For as long as there is a Technologian that needs to be heard, the 42nd Supreme Student Government will be there,” she said.

Your friendly neighborhood orgs
This year’s Org Fair populated the university’s friendly neighborhood with departmental and advocacy-based student organizations. Located at the RTL Quadrangle, these organizations promoted themselves during the entire Welcome Week to Teknoys looking for extracurriculars to spice up their lives.
Students new and old engaged with the organizations’ gimmicks as they displayed what they can offer. At the same time, most opened their membership drives to future orgmates and participated in the welcome parade held on the morning of August 12.
Teknoys showcase talents
Beyond student organizations, Technologians showcased their abilities across various fields, proving that they are more than just students wrapped up in courses and academic workload. Throughout Welcome Week, the ARTeknoy exhibit displayed paintings and media in the RTL Building, accentuating the artistic side of many creative souls.
At the same time, some within the community busked in the Espacio, offering their voice and music for anyone passing by to enjoy.
This year’s Welcome Week also saw the return of Teknoblast 2.0, featuring Teknoy performers in song and dance. The yearly opening concert remained a highlight to the CIT-U community as the academic school year arrived in full swing.
